2021 Scarlet Alliance National Forum #SANF21

SANF21 online registrations are now open! CLICK HERE

Registrations for the National Forum close at 10:00 AM (AEST) 8th November.

This year we have once again decided to hold the 2021 Scarlet Alliance National Forum online due to the varied COVID-19 restrictions across states and territories. Next year, the Forum location nominations will be re-opened. There will also be state and territory based hubs (COVID-19 restrictions permitting) to facilitate participation in the Scarlet Alliance National Forum. Contact your local sex worker organisation to see whether there is a forum hub near you:

The theme for National Forum 2021 is Whores in Context: Where have we come from? Where are we going?

Held over 3 days on 9-11 November, the National Forum packs in:

  • National Forum (sex workers only - free) Presentations, workshops, discussions, consultation, policy development, sex workers panels, trends/changes/legal conditions across each state and territory, peer education and more.
  • Annual General Meeting (AGM) (online only) (Scarlet Alliance delegates and members only). Election of office bearers (executive committee), spokespersons, delegates to represent the organisation, reports from the executive committee, presentation of financial reports. It will also discuss what we as workers can do to address transphobia and homophobia in our industry.

Facilitator: Charlie

Personal experiences with banking institutions and helpful tips re: payment options and banking

This workshop will cover personal experiences with banking institutions and financial discrimination, share information about which banks are most supportive of our industry, and end with a Q&A/group share.

Facilitator: Tallula Darling

4:30PM Wednesday

Simple Bondage for Work and Pleasure

A primer on rope bondage (as well as how to improvise without rope) for beginners. Learn hard skills (safety, knots, rope techniques, simple harness, self tying, putting it together) and soft skills (communication, mood, timing, connection). By the end of this workshop you’ll be able to put your skills to use on yourself and others!

Facilitator: Sai Jaiden Lillith

Community Focused Cash Back

What are our community responses when mugs reverse payments, steal back money, or deliberately gain bookings and sex work services through fraudulent means? Exploring the ethics, confidentiality, frustrations, wins and losses, learn about the full range of creative avenues Respect Inc promotes in response to non-payment, plus all the $$$$ returned to sex workers.

Facilitators: Carly, Lulu, Ella from Respect Inc

How I’ve Dealt With My Own Whorephobia: A Sharing Circle

A sharing circle on ways we’ve become aware of and dealt with our own internalised whorephobia. A confidential container providing the opportunity to skill share and feel validated by shared experience in the area of internalised whorephobia, with the objective to reduce shame, increase self-esteem and confidence and build trust and solidarity.

Facilitator: Danielle

Sex Worker Rights: Impromptu spaces for whore expression, advocacy and organising

A presentation, discussion and skillshare on the importance of community engagement through art advocacy. NT sex workers and FIFO/touring workers have been working as a creative collective to celebrate, memorialise and bring attention to issues of concern within our community through peer-led projects.
